Stellar has recognized six African blockchain startups in its 38th Stellar Community Fund (SCF), a program organized by the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF).
The foundation leverages community input to fund and support founders building on the Stellar blockchain. Each project can receive up to $150,000 in XLM, Stellar’s native token—the highest award granted per team. Through this funding, the initiative helps early-stage companies scale products, strengthen infrastructure, and expand real-world use cases globally.
Stellar Awards Five African Projects
In its 38th round, the SCF awarded 24 teams a total of $2.57 million in XLM. Out of these, six projects from African builders received a combined $437,500—about 19% of the overall fund. These startups focused on practical solutions addressing regional challenges while creating real-world applications.
One of the winners, FastBuka, received $70,000 worth of XLM to enhance its blockchain-enabled food and grocery delivery platform, streamlining logistics and service delivery. Cartwey, a self-checkout solution designed for supermarkets, grocery stores, and mini-marts, secured $60,000 in XLM to improve efficiency and convenience for retailers and customers.
AgroLinking—listed as AgroTrail on Stellar—earned $60,000 worth of XLM to deploy blockchain-powered traceability solutions for Nigerian agricultural producers and processors, helping them meet export standards and access premium markets. Minah received $97,500 in XLM to develop Africa-focused Real-World Asset (RWA) investments, enabling Afro-optimist investors to fund projects through the blockchain’s low-cost, DeFi-powered infrastructure.
The largest award went to Freedom Pay Wallet, which secured $150,000 worth of XLM. The project supports agencies delivering financial aid in rural Africa, giving recipients seamless access to goods and services.
SFXmoneyapp, a cross-border payment solution for sending, receiving, and saving money, was among the listed winners, securing $55,000. In June, SFX was also part of the first cohort of startups accepted into the Circle Developer Grant.
Bottom Line
In its 36th round, Viaportal reported that Stellar had funded four African projects focused on strengthening cross-border payments in their communities through its technology.
Some of those earlier winners have gained further recognition. Seevcash was recently accepted into the Embark Accelerator program, hosted by Draper University and Stellar, while RemittEase was selected to join the Lisk and CV Labs Block 2 program.
